Mike Towner

Coach

Mike Towner has been heavily involved in the fitness industry for over 10 years. Mike has extensive experience in CrossFit as both an athlete and coach, having participated in numerous competitions throughout Australia since 2009 and owning successful affiliate CrossFit Lift since 2011. In 2016 Mike coached the CrossFit Torian team to an appearance at the Pacific Regional where the team finished in fourth position, qualifying for and competing in the CrossFit Games in California as one of the best 40 teams in the world.

When the sport of CrossFit arrived, he was immediately drawn to its ability to reach new levels of strength and endurance, while also providing a community aspect that far surpasses what any other fitness style offers. Mike’s passion for the sport translates to his skills as a coach, where he brings a results-driven outlook, coupled with a strong focus on a solid foundation, to ensure his athletes reach new levels of peak performance.

Damon Kelly

Coach

Damon Kelly is highly regarded throughout the world for his accomplishments as an athlete, specifically within weightlifting, and passion for creating a healthy generation of Australians. His weightlifting journey began over 15 years ago. Along the way he has represented Australia all around the world, from the Junior World Championships to the Olympic Games.

With a 310kg back squat and a 176kg snatch, his prowess in the sport is undeniable. Through his hard work and dedication Damon has represented Australia at two Commonwealth Games and two Olympic Games, becoming one of the best weightlifters of his generation.

Brent2

Brent Paxton

COACH

Brent Paxton has worked in the fitness industry since 2009. As an accredited exercise physiologist, Brent has extensive experience dealing with chronic and acute injuries in the gym and their appropriate treatment and management, as well as those that limit daily activities. He also has experience developing best possible outcomes for more complicated cases, such as those with metabolic conditions (diabetes), neurodegenerative conditions (Parkinson’s Disease) and cardiac or respiratory disease.

Brent is also an accomplished athlete, having competed at both the CrossFit Regionals and the CrossFit Games. He currently offers 1-on-1 and group sessions for those with performance goals, as well as individual programming and consults for those with more complex cases.

Royce

Royce Dunne

COACH

Royce Dunne has performed at a high level in numerous sports (most notably CrossFit, weightlifting, AFL and tennis) and has extensive experience with a variety of strength/power training programs. Royce is a strong advocate of CrossFit, believing it to be the best strength and conditioning program on the planet. He has seen how the principles of CrossFit, and the lessons learned through every session, can resonate through people’s lives. It is this satisfaction in his clients’ success that keeps him coming back for more.

For the last four years Royce has worked with individuals and groups to forge elite fitness, catering from beginner levels right through to professional athletes. In 2015 he made his first appearance at the Australian National Championships in weightlifting. In 2016 he was part of the CrossFit Torian team that came fourth at the Pacific Regional, qualifying for the CrossFit Games in California as one of the top 40 teams in the world.

Stacey Harris

COACH

Stacey fell in love with CrossFit on her first encounter, and has been passionate about training herself and others using the methodology ever since! Beginning her exercise career as a dancer at the age of two, Stacey has attempted to be as active as possible throughout her life through activities like rock-climbing, running, cycling, badminton, netball, surfing and snowboarding.

She is currently part of the CrossFit HQ Seminar Team that trains new trainers using the CrossFit methodology at weekend seminars all over Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Asia, and is also an official judge at the CrossFit Games each year in California. She has coached in several high profile affiliates, ran her own affiliate in Sydney, and competed at the Regionals and the CrossFit Games.

With her dietetics qualifications pairing nicely with CrossFit training, Stacey offers one on one and group nutrition programs to help people change their eating habits to get even better results out of their training and reach their full fitness potential.

MATTY

Matthias Turner

Coach

Matthias Turner has helped thousands of people throughout Australia with their health and fitness goals. While he has always been interested in high intensity workouts, Matty was first introduced to the CrossFit methodology in 2012 and never looked back. He now has extensive experience in CrossFit as both an athlete and a coach, and regularly participates in some of the country’s premier events.

Matty most enjoys how CrossFit continually attracts people who are motivated to not only move better and more efficiently, but to use and health and fitness as a way to improve all aspects of their lives. He also has a strong affinity for the CrossFit Kids program, which empowers the next generation of Australians to appreciate the value of health and be the best they can be.

Izzy

Isabelle Allen

Isabelle’s primary focus in high school was rowing, where she competed in the schoolgirl Nationals in her senior year and represented the Open First VIII for three consecutive years. Isabelle pursued her interest in sports and athletic performance at the tertiary level, completing a Bachelor of Applied Science specialising in Human Movement Studies; in 2010 she graduated with a Dean’s Commendation and Second Class Honours.

After her first ever WOD in 2012, Isabelle became an immediate convert to the CrossFit methodology. In addition to coaching group sessions of 30+ people, Isabelle uses her eight years’ experience as a personal trainer to help clients unleash their inner athlete so they can live a healthier, stronger and happier life. Isabelle is dedicated to delivering the enormous benefits of the CrossFit methodology, while also facilitating the personal growth and strong community established with CrossFit Torian.

John Leonard

COACH

John grew up with a martial arts background, training throughout Australia and around the world. Several years ago, a car accident left John with severe damage to his lower back, deemed “permanent” by specialists. In response, John became determined to rebuild his strength and break out of the poor lifestyle habits he had picked up over the years. In 2013, while on a search to add variety to his training, John discovered CrossFit and has been a huge advocate of the methodology ever since.

Always passionate and enthusiastic about helping people work on their health and fitness goals, John is as committed to coaching as much as his own athletic journey.

Luke Gamble

Coach

Luke Gamble has a unique empathy for all those battling to regain control of their health and fitness. Having faced his own struggles with unwanted weight gain, Luke went on to lose 30 kilograms. In the process, he found his true passion and now uses his own experience to change people’s lives using health and fitness as the conduit.

In addition to a Cert III and IV in Fitness, Luke is a Level 1 Kettlebell Trainer and a Level 1 Club Weightlifting / Sports Power Coach, and competes in as many CrossFit and weightlifting events as his schedule allows. In 2016 he was part of the CrossFit Torian team that came fourth at the Pacific Regional, qualifying for and competing in the CrossFit Games in California as one of the top 40 teams in the world.

Kirsty-Leigh Garland

Coach

Kirsty-Leigh Garland has been an elite athlete and coach in the sport of gymnastics for over 20 years. Kirsty was voted “Gymnast of the Year” at the Australian Institute of Sport in 1995, and in the following year she represented Australia at the 1996 Olympic Games.

Kirsty is currently training as a competitive bodybuilder and has already qualified for the INBA Australian Titles. She is also co-founder of Gymnastics Method and mother of two.
