Absolutely! If you have never done CrossFit before, you can participate in one of our Circuit Training classes for free, which include many elements of CrossFit. To join regular CrossFit, you must complete the CrossFit Fundamentals program to ensure you can become safely accustomed to this style of workout.
If you already have experience with CrossFit, and a sound understanding of its intensity and the associated movements, you can participate in one of our CrossFit or Circuit Training classes for free. After that you must join as a member or pre-pay a drop in rate of $20 per session.
The clean and jerk, snatch, squat, deadlift, push-press, bench-press, as well as bodyweight movements such as push-ups, sit ups, squats, and pull-ups. No exercise machines here!
Absolutely not! We have students who are in the 99th percentile of fitness and those in the 5th percentile of fitness. You are pushed and encouraged based on your current level of fitness. All we want is for you to give your best effort during each workout.
It is a common sentiment to feel that, due to the obligations of career and family, you don’t have the time to become as fit as you might like. Here’s the good news: world class, age-group strength and conditioning is obtainable through an hour a day six days per week of training. It turns out that the intensity of training that optimizes physical conditioning is not sustainable past forty-five minutes to an hour. Athletes that train for hours a day are developing skill or training for sports that include adaptations inconsistent with elite strength and conditioning. Past one hour, more is not better!

CrossFit is an intense fitness program, and some technical movements can be hazardous for people who do not understand the foundations, regardless of their fitness level. Our Fundamentals program introduces people to the movements they will encounter in CrossFit programming, while also providing a more controlled environment to learn the more technical lifts correctly. After two guided sessions and the Coach’s approval, you will be free to proceed with one of the regular membership options. The Fundamentals program also includes a circuit training session for you to try.
Although you will probably start feeling better and stronger immediately, new students can expect about a 15-20% improvement in strength and endurance following the first fifteen sessions. In addition, our findings show that flexibility, agility and body composition are improved. Subjective things like increased mental toughness, energy levels, improved sleep and reduced joint stiffness are also reported. Most of our students are shocked at their improvements even though they would consider themselves exercisers before starting CrossFit.

Unlike your average gym, Torian and/or the Brisbane Barbell Club will never charge joining fees, hidden fees, break fees or lengthy contracts. If for whatever reason you wish to leave our community, just let us know.
You can cancel your membership by sending an email to email@example.com. Just make sure to give at least 14 days notice so we can take care of the admin side. Once a debit has been processed, it cannot be refunded, so if you wish you to cancel your membership please make sure to provide 7 days notice before your next debit will occur.
The following information has been provided by EziDebit who we use to process our membership payments and streamline everything with Wodify so we can ensure all our members are active within the community and able to keep track of their own performance. While this only relates to small sums, we feel it is important to have complete transparency with our members:
- Bank account transactions are charged at $1.10 and Visa/Mastercard transactions are 2.2% (min. $1.10) and Amex/Diners is 4.4% (min. $1.10). Thus, any credit card fee is determined by the total amount we are debiting.
- The cost only changes depending on the card type (i.e. debit card or credit card), not on the bank you are with.
- EziDebit charges a $2.20 one-off admin fee for each new member.
- EziDebit fees are charged per transaction, rather than, say, over a time period. As a result, paying per month will be slightly cheaper with a debit card, although the difference with credit cards is negligible because they’re done on the percentage basis mentioned above.
- If your scheduled payment fails, EziDebit charges a $9.90 for every failed transaction. Unfortunately this is not something we can control, so we encourage you to please schedule your payments for a date where you expect to have funds in the account.

Many professional and elite athletes are participating in the CrossFit program. Prize fighters, cyclists, surfers, skiers, tennis players, triathletes and others competing at the highest levels are using the CrossFit approach to advance their core strength and conditioning, but that’s not all. CrossFit has tested its methods on the sedentary, overweight, pathological, and elderly and found that these special populations met the same success as our stable of athletes. If our program works for Olympic Skiers and overweight, sedentary homemakers then it will work for you.
We definitely would say it is worth it, but we are a little biased. The only person who can truly tell you if it is worth it, is you. The only way you can objectively know is to show up and participate in a workout.
